In February – April 2022, significant flooding devastated the Queensland and Northern New South Wales regions. This flooding was the worst that had occurred in Queensland in over a decade and brought more than a year’s worth of rainfall to South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales in a week.
The Overall Impact
The estimated impact of the floods meant that 20,000 homes and businesses flooded in Queensland and more than 5000 homes were damaged in NSW. More than 7,800 homes were impacted by the flooding in South East Queensland in early April alone with thousands of evacuation notices sent out to regions all across the Eastern Seaboard. Experts predict that it will likely take years for these regions to fully recover.
How We Adapted
At A2B, we saw an unprecedented demand for our services in remote and affected regions across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. This required us to be more flexible and responsive to incoming requests. As our team is heavily focused on satisfying our customers and doing our part for the community, our team went over and above in order to assist the most heavily affected communities and were able to successfully fill this increased capacity for our services.
Outstanding customer service and passion to exceed expectations drive our business. We always aim to provide this level of service for every client and members of the community that need our help. As a result of our team’s drive to help the community and the flexibility of our staff, we were able to do our part to fulfil this increased demand for these communities.
Area of Focus
Rocklea is one of the most flood prone areas of Queensland as it is close to the Rocky Water Holes and Oxley Creek. Data shows that it was Brisbane’s most flooded suburb in January 2011. True to form, it was also one of the heaviest affected regions in South East Queensland with the recent floods.
Our team played a pivotal role in helping businesses in the affected Rocklea Markets area. This area was devastated by flooding with many businesses either completely flooded or otherwise unable to trade.
As most of our team are locals to the area, we decided to do our part and give back by helping out however we could. Our fleet of trucks assisted with moving inventory and people out of flood affected buildings as well as providing large vehicles to assist with a general clean up of damage caused by this tragedy.
